Family Pictures
Brandi took some pictures of us this past weekend. They turned out great considering Deacon did not want to sit or stand still for a single minute. At one point we resorted to letting him throw rocks just so he would sit still. I know probably not a great thing to teach him but it somewhat worked.
Thank you Brandi and Happy Birthday!
I love this picture...can you tell that these two have so much fun together!

( 3 / 137 )15 Months
This is what Deacon is up to at 15 months:
-Running everywhere…he will walk really fast and swing his arm and that is his run. He is always in a hurry to get to where he is going. He has had several falls because he gets to going faster than he can handle.
-Dancing…he still loves to dance and sing. As soon as he gets out of bed each morning he starts dancing.
-Singing…His favorite songs are This Little Light of Mine and If You’re Happy and You Know It he loves sing and doing the motions to songs.
-Teeth...He has 7 teeth now. He is still drooling like crazy.
-Talking on the phone…he is saying a few words plus this week he started saying PawPaw.
-Calling the Hogs
-Always wants to go…It doesn’t matter who is leaving the house, he always wants to go along. If it is Mommy or Daddy leaving and he doesn’t get to go there is usually a meltdown. When Bryan leaves I can usually make him happy by letting him look out the window at Bryan leaving and he will wave and blow kisses to him.
-He loves playing with Maggie. Since he loves playing ball they both enjoying playing fetch. He always wants Maggie to play with him and sometimes just doesn’t understand that she doesn’t want to. He loves to get a snack or her ball and walk around with it because he knows Maggie will follow him. It is so funny. I am always saying Deacon throw her ball and he laughs and throws it.
-Getting brave…he trying to climb on everything and his favorite is the couch. He also is constantly trying to stand on his toys.
-Playing with balls…he loves balls…dribbling them, throwing them, you name it he loves it.
Deacon has such a great personality and is so much fun.

( 3 / 141 )Our Own Little Picasso
What could be more fun for a 1 year than painting! One day I picked Deacon up from daycare and they were just finishing up painting and this is what his feet looked like this…
Sometimes I wonder how they can manage 10 kids finger painting. That just simply amazes me. Here are some of Deacon’s most recent finger painting projects from daycare.
Saturday night Deacon was in a bit of a grouch mood and I needed something to occupy him, so I though we will do an art project.
And this was our creation.

( 3.6 / 46 )No Dairy for Deacon
About a month ago Deacon started having some digestive issues and we couldn’t figure out what the problem was. I called the doctor wanting them to do a food allergy test, but they did not want to instead they wanted me to try to figure out what the issue was by eliminating foods. I was so very frustrated with this, because to me this seemed like a guessing game. Eventually, I decided that we were going to take a step back and put Deacon back on only baby food because he had not problems with baby food. So, for about a week he was on baby food and the diarrhea got better. We slowly started introducing foods that he had been eating for a while. It didn’t take long after he ate a grilled cheese to realize cheese was the problem. Then I remembered that even when he was on baby food we were still giving him Yo Baby yogurt for breakfast and that was the only time he was having diarrhea. So, I found the problem…diary. We went to the doctor a few days later for a little cold and informed him of that all dairy seemed to be the problem. Our doctor seemed to think that maybe he is just lactose intolerant which according to most of the stuff I read that sounds like the right diagnosis. We are all hopeful that he will grow out of this when he is older. The odd thing about all of this is that he had been eating Yo Baby for 6 months and had ate several grilled cheeses and I never noticed a problem and then all of sudden it all changed.
At this time Deacon is on soy everything…milk, which he has been for a while, cheese and Yo Baby now even has Soy Baby. I had noticed this just a week or two before we switched Deacon to soy, how convenient. However, I never realized how inconvenient it is to buy soy products. Thankfully, the regular (i.e. Kroger and Wal-Mart) have soy milk and Soy Baby, but you can’t stop by a gas station and grab a thing of soy milk. And as of now we have only found them in ½ gallons. This boy loves milk and goes through a ½ gallon in no time. The most inconvenient though is the cheese. I have to go to a “healthier” (more expensive) store to get this. I have also learned that some soy cheeses have the milk protein casein (the protein that allergic people are allergic to) in them, which I find ridiculous. I wasn’t aware that I needed to check the soy cheese labels and bought some of this cheese and it proved to given Deacon issues. So, now I know to read the labels before I buy it.
Deacon doesn’t seem to notice the difference and eats up his soy yogurt and cheese just like he did the regular. I do have to say that when I make him macaroni and cheese the melted soy cheese stinks so bad I lose my appetite. The first time I made it I didn’t even want to feed it to him, but he loved it.
I am thankful that he is just lactose intolerant or has a mild allergy (which ever he is), it could be so much worse. We have pretty well adjusted to all of this, but the hardest thing seems to be when we go out to eat. I used to order him grilled cheese everywhere we went, but now that is not an option. The other day he ate chicken strips for the first time. I have had to give up the whole eating healthy (not that a grilled cheese is all that healthy) all the time and realize that sometimes it is okay to have chicken strips, well as long as he has a fruit to go along with it.
I love that on MckMama's blog that she gives photoshop and photograhpy tips. I really don't know anything about photoshop and just click around until I like the picture but she really has some great tips. I plan to play around with this more but this was my first shot at this.

( 2.9 / 42 )At A Loss For Words
Deacon has absolutely no desire to talk and it drives me crazy. Right now his vocabulary consists of momma, dada, dog, ball, bird, duck and baby. Some of these words he is very good at using…for instance when he is playing with a ball I will say, Deacon what is that and he will say ball. Or when he sees one of his baby pictures he points and says baby and when he is referring to Maggie he says dog. I always thought that he would start off calling her Maggie since we clearly call her by her name and not by dog. However, when I point at myself or Bryan and ask him who we are he will not say and when I try to say I am mamma, he either completely ignores me or laughs at me. This is also usually what happens in the car when I am trying to get him to say words…I think he thinks I am crazy. I know some kids are late talkers, my mom says I was so it is probably my fault that he doesn’t talk much now.
I find it interesting though that the boy could dribble a ball before he could say the word ball. Everyone seems very impressed at how well he can dribble and throw a ball, so maybe he doesn’t need to talk he will just throw a balls at people to communicate.
Deacon has always loved dogs and now he can find the D is for Dog on this toy and place it between the arrows so it barks, just so he can bark along with it. He thinks this is so funny, and we do too of course.
I know he will talk when he is ready and that it is not abnormal for babies not to say many words at this age. I just think that he is a little stubborn.
These picture have nothing to do with Deacon not talking, they just show that we thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather we had this weekend.
