Happy Thanksgiving
Today we will make our journey to Illinois for Thanksgiving. We are very excited to see everyone. Other than our parents and Landon, our family hasn’t seen Deacon since he was 2 weeks old. My how he has changed! We also want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of the year. I always love going back to Illinois at the holidays for the great food, family and traditions. We will only be there for a few days but we will be back for a week at Christmas. So, if we don’t see some of you this week hopefully we can catch you at Christmas. It seems like we have so many people to see and there is never enough time. If you are in town this week or want to make plans for Christmas, just give us a call, we would be happy to see you.
Happy Thanksgiving!

( 3.1 / 54 )3 months
Deacon is 3 months old! It is amazing to see how much he changes each month. We truly enjoy every second we get to spend with him. He provides lots of entertainment. He has such an easy going personality, even his daycare teachers say that he is such a good baby. Here are some things he is doing:
• Talking a lot…when he gets really excited he squeals like a little girl. He is having a conversation with his Daddy right now! Usually his and Bryan’s talks end up in a yelling match. They just keep getting louder and louder, then Deacon will get mad and Bryan gives in. It is so much fun to see them play together.
• Sits in his bumbo seat
• Plays with toys…his Tigger and Duck are his favorite toys
• Enjoys chewing on his hands and bib
• Sleeps 9 hours at night…although he does wake up a few times for his pacifier.
• Loves singing songs and reading books.
We are so blessed to have Deacon in our lives and we love him so very much.

( 2.9 / 49 )A litte story
A little story about my nephew McGwire:With Thanksgiving coming up next week the teachers of McGwire’s children’s church were asking all the kids to say what they were thankful for. I imagine most of the kids said they were thankful for their toys, friends or in Cayden’s case “food”, but when it was time for McGwire to state what he was thankful for he said Deacon. I thought that was so cute! When my mom told me the story I was a little nervous about what she was going to say McGwire said, if you know McGwire you know what I mean. You just never know what that kid is going to say. I know both Cayden and McGwire are very anxious to see Deacon again, they call every once in a while to see if he can come over and play. We are very excited to come home and see everyone at Thanksgiving! We will see you all in a week!
On another note, my mom had surgery yesterday and she is home and doing well. Then Landon had his wisdom teeth pulled this morning. He is hoping the tooth fairy pays more for wisdom teeth. Yes, he actually asked the doctor if he could have his teeth. How gross is that! My dad is at home taking care of them for the next few days. When I asked if he was looking forward to that he said “they better be nice to me or they won’t eat”! So, we are praying for a quick recovery for them and sanity for dad.

( 3 / 52 )First Illness
Deacon only lasted at daycare for 3 days…and he got the flu! Here is a little timeline of how our contracting the flu happened. Tuesday I was feeding Deacon during lunch and his teachers proceed to tell me that the flu is going around. Of course my first thoughts are, I am taking him back to work with me, there is no way I am leaving him here. Then after a few minutes I realized that if I take him out of daycare every time there is something going around he will have the weakest immune system ever (like me). So, I decided to leave him there remembering that his pediatrician said that he should have a stronger immune system than many of the other babies since I am nursing him. On my way back to work I called Bryan flipping out and he reassured me that I was doing the right thing. Wednesday I decided to go pick Deacon up early to take him back to the office to visit everyone. To my surprise when I arrived they were calling me to let me know Deacon had just got sick. Instead of taking him to my office we just went on home and for the rest of the night he didn’t seem to show any signs of being sick. The next morning we were both ready to leave and I was getting ready to feed him when he got sick again. At that time I decided to stay home with him. We spent the day playing and reading books, and he napped while I cleaned. The day went on as if he was not sick at all, he had no other symptoms, was eating great and was in a good mood. Not wanting to take him to daycare on Friday I had talked to Lou and decided I would take him to work with me on Friday just to keep him away from the germs and hopefully let all the other kids get over the bug. On Friday Bryan was getting him ready and starting yelling at me from across the house to come help him. He had diarrhea and Bryan was having a time containing everything! Since I had stayed home on Thursday, Bryan said he would stay at home with him on Friday. It was at that time that I finally came to the realization that he had the flu. I went on to work and left Bryan and Deacon at home. By about 11:00 I was starting to feel a little queasy, but I was trying to convince myself I was just tired (Deacon is still getting up throughout the night needing his pacifier). But at 1:30 I decided I needed to go home, I was not feeling well at all. By the time I got home there was no denying that I had the flu. I got a flu shot on Monday, but it obviously was not working. We quarantined ourselves to our house for the weekend and Bryan tried to not go too many places on Friday and Saturday just in case he was carrying the flu germs. Saturday Deacon was a bit more fussy than usual and I was still feeling pretty queasy, but by Sunday morning Deacon and I were feeling much better…however, Bryan had the flu. We have had one very sick weekend and no one, except Maggie, could escape the flu in our house. This was the worst possible weekend for us to get the flu. I, along with some other friends, was supposed to be hosting Amy’s baby shower at my house this weekend. Once I knew Deacon had the flu, we arranged to have the shower at Jennifer’s house, but I was still planning on being able to attend. But once I started having flu-like symptoms there was no way I was going to infect everyone. I was very upset that I was not going to be able to attend, being that I had been planning for this since before Deacon was born. Amy had done a great job heading up my shower and I wanted to repay her the best I could. In the end I knew all the girls would do a great job and I hear it was great. I am so sorry I couldn’t be there for the celebration.
Tom, Sydney and Stella were also planning on staying with us this weekend. We hate that we did not get to see them and spend time with little Stella, but I am sure we will have plenty of opportunities in the future.
Here are somePictures that we took while we were home sick.

( 2.8 / 46 )Busy Weekend
As you can see the past few days have been very busy. So there are several posts to follow. Hopefully this will keep you busy for a while.Last night after we got home from small group I put some new pajamas on him and decided I need to take some pictures for the blog. So I sat him on the couch at our usual picture place and I always prop him up on the crack between the back of the couch and the arm rest. I prop him up, reach for the camera and all of a sudden he pulls himself up to an upright sitting position and is just sitting there not leaning on anything. I start yelling at Bryan to come over there quick, of course he thought something was wrong, since I was flipping out. I was amazed at how long he just sat there like a little boy and not a baby. I laid him back against the couch a couple times and each time he would sit back up. Since I hadn’t put him in his bumbo seat for a while I thought that he may be ready for that. He sat in there and just looked around like he was a big boy. It was very exciting to see that he is getting stronger but at the same time I was telling him that he was not suppose to be able to do this yet. I guess I am going to have to face reality and accept that he is going to grow up much faster than I want him to.
Here are some pictures from the last few days. Busy Weekend
