What You Do When You Are At Grandma's
Deacon had a great time during the week that he was in Illinois. We missed him like crazy, but we were so happy he got to spend some quality time with his grandparents. What did he do while he was there (other than get spoiled)?

The first day he was there he went to mom and tots tumbling class!

He stretched with Aunt Brooke.

Jumped on the trampoline with MawMaw, and she had to hold him because he was too scared to do it by himself.

He met so many of his Illinois friends that he didn’t even know he had :) By the end of the class when they took this picture I think he had had more than enough.

I was so happy he got to have his 1st experience at Loker Studio. The studio has been a big part of my life and I loved seeing the pictures of him up there. And we have been practicing his front rolls, maybe by May he will be good enough to be in the recital :)

Deacon loved taking baths in MawMaw’s big bathtub that has a window.

He looks so old in these pictures :(

She of course let him stand up and look out, one of the many things he gets to do when Mommy is not around.

Deacon absolutely loved playing in MawMaw and PawPaw’s basement. They have a toy room that is a child’s dream come true. Deacon is just getting to the age where he can play with a lot of the toys in there. It didn’t take long before he demolished the play area.

He loved the little kitchen set. His favorite part was putting things in the microwave and the oven, he loved opening and closing the doors.

MawMaw also introduced him to The Wiggles and he loves them. He also loves sitting in the little yellow chair. He can get into okay, but when it is time to get out he just leans over and tips the chair over to fall out.

I don’t have many pictures from his visit with MaMaw Chris, but one of Deacon’s favorite things to do with her is bang on her pots and pans.

Sorry this is so small I took it from my phone.

She said he walked all around the house with a wooden spoon hitting everything in sight.
Deacon even got to go on a play date with MaMaw Chris. One of her friends has a grandson just a little older than Deacon so they got to play and have lots of fun together.

Here are some more pictures. And here are some pictures from his trip to Illinois in August.

1st Happy Meal
Deacon had his 1st Happy Meal today with Grandpa Kent and Grandma Chris. He is being spoiled by his Grandparents while he was there. He even went to tumbling class on Monday night with MawMaw Tonya. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Here are a few pictures from Deacon 1 year pictures.

Fun with Family
This past weekend Uncle Landon and Aunt Brandi came to visit Deacon. We had been telling him all week that they were coming to visit.

We had so much fun with them, they guys went golfing and Brandi and I were able to do some crafting after Deacon went to bed at night.

And when they left they had some extra luggage….Deacon. That is right we sent Deacon to Illinois again. He is staying with our parents until we get there on Friday. We miss him like crazy but we have already heard about all the fun he is having!

13 Months

The past month has seemed to bring on lots of change. I don’t remember any other month thinking…wow look how much things have changed.

-Walking everywhere…at one year he could take several steps at a time and now he is all over that place and into everything!

-It seems like we go through good and bad times with Deacon’s sleeping habits. Right now he is sleeping great at night. He goes to be between 7:45 and 8:00 and wakes up between 6:00 and 6:30. At home he takes 2 naps a day, but a daycare he just takes 1 long early afternoon nap (but he usually still sleeps on the way home).

-Eating…lately Deacon has been a little picky. The only pasta he really seems to like is macaroni and cheese, we all knew my child would LOVE macaroni and cheese right? Sometimes he will only eat a few bites of real food and then act like he is not hungry, but if I offer him applesauce or other baby food he usually eats that right up.

-Favorite foods….applesauce, pancakes, grilled cheese, green beans and macaroni and cheese.

-Mr. Independent…there is so much he wants to do on his own. I try to let him do something’s, but usually by the end of the task he has a meltdown. For instance, brushing his teeth. He wants to this all by himself, but he doesn’t keep the toothbrush in his mouth. He rubs it on his shirt, the mirror, the candle and anything else he can reach. I have recently started giving him a toothbrush and I have a toothbrush to do the real job. So far it seems to work.

-Talking…He loves to jabber. He still isn’t saying a ton of words, but when I mentioned that to his doctor the other day when we were in his office he didn’t seem too concerned. He does try to repeat things. Most of the time he can get part of the word or at least the right number of syllables. For instance, the other day I had done something and said “crap” and instantly he trying to say it too. So, I guess I am going to have to cut that out of my vocabulary.

-Singing and Dancing…this boy loves music. He loves to listen to music whether it be in the car, at home or on TV he loves to clap his hands, wave his arms and dance.

-Hitting…Deacon has a very bad habit of hitting. It started with him hitting me, then Bryan and now he is doing it at daycare. It seems that nothing we are doing to stop this is working. He slaps and he hits with toys, mostly his bat and golf clubs, so the majority of the time those are put away.

-Tantrums…oh the lovely tantrums! When things don’t go his way we now see tantrums. Like the other day I was in a store trying to shop and he did not want to sit in the cart, he wanted to run around like a wild child and when I wouldn’t let him…here came the tantrum. Yes, I was that mother with that kid.

-Hugs and Kisses…Deacon loves to blow kisses. It is so cute. He usually licks his hand when he has it by his mouth. He also loves to give lots of hugs and kisses. The ladies at his daycare say that there are days that he will walk up to them over and over and want to give them hugs and kisses. He is so sweet.

-Copying,,,he loves to copy the things we do. It is so much fun to teach him things this way. One of his favorites is when we sing “This Little Light of Mine”. He also likes saying, SHHHH, although he sticks his finger in his mouth when doing this. He likes to blow on things, even his food.

-Facing frontward…when we went to the doctor the other day he was over 20 pounds so we decided to go ahead and turn him around in the car seat and he loves it. He loves being able to see what is going on. But more than anything he loves clapping his hands and dancing with Mommy in the car.

-Deacon has 6 teeth right now, but has been teething like crazy for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully they come in soon.

-Climbing…He is just getting into the climbing stage. He is still a little small but he does try to climb up on the furniture but he hasn’t quite mastered that yet. However, he does stand on his toys, especially his fire truck.

We fall in love with this little boy more and more everyday. He is so much fun and we love every moment we have with him. We are realizing with every passing day that the time is passing faster than we ever imagined. We cherish every memory with him and look forward to many more.

Playing Catch Up
Lately I have been horrible about blogging. I just haven’t seemed to be able to find the time. What have I been doing you ask? Well….I have been shopping for furniture and painting our living room (of course all with the help of Bryan).

Here is a piece of our new bedroom furniture that I love.

I can’t show you the bed yet because there has been a little issue, but hopefully the right one will come in soon :)

Here is our new entertainment center and newly painted living room.

I know it is kinda bare now but hopefully that won’t last long. Bryan is also going to start working on the crown moulding tomorrow.

Now on to what you really want to know…What has Mr. Deacon been up to?

Well, lets see…

Testing my limits.

Talking on the phone.

Listening/Dancing/Claping to music.

Playing with my golf clubs and baseball bat all the time.

Fishing

Laughing and having so much fun.

Reading.

Getting my 1st black eye

Wearing Mommy's headbands

Looking cute

Having Meltdowns

Riding my zebra

Just hanging out

and we are having so much fun. Since I haven’t posted pictures in a while I have a lot for you to see. Hopefully, I will get back in the swing of things and blog more frequently. But until then you can enjoy lots of pictures of a very cute little boy!
