5 weeks
Deacon was 5 weeks on Thursday and I am amazed at how much he has grown. He is now 23 inches long and weighs about 10 to 10.5 pounds. This week he has been amazed by his own hands. The other day he had woke up from his nap and was talking to himself and just staring at his hands. He found them to be very entertaining. He also loves lying in his bed and watching his mobile. It does not put him to sleep buy it does keep him occupied. Here are some pictures of the past week. 5 week pictures We also want to say congratulations to Tom and Sydney. Stella arrived healthy on Thursday evening. We can’t wait to see you and introduce Deacon and Stella.
There was also a scare with Jeff and Jennifer’s little boy last week. We are so happy he is home and doing much better. We are continuing to pray for him to get back to 100%.

( 2.8 / 17 )One Month Today!
I can’t believe Deacon is one month today. In some ways it has seemed to fly by but in other ways it hasn’t. One thing is for sure, he has grown and changed so much over the last month. He is now pretty much out of newborn clothes and into 0-3 month. He is so long and lean than he outgrows his clothes in length very quickly. He is starting to make a lot of “ooh and ahh” sounds. We have our own little conversations and when he really gets going he gets so excited his arms and legs go crazy. He loves laying on his changing table and checking things out. When we put him to bed at night it is so funny to listen to all his sounds he makes, he moans, grunts and squeals (all while sleeping) for about 5 minutes. Bryan and I just lie in bed and laugh at him and enjoy his little sounds. I keep telling Bryan we need to get this on video but usually by this time I am just ready to go to bed and do not want to walk across the house to get the video camera. I honestly do not know what we did before Deacon came into our lives. He is the center of our world and we absolutely love every second of parenthood.

( 2.6 / 18 )More Friends for Deacon
This past week we found out that Deacon will have another playmate arriving in April! Congratulations Josh and Andrea! We can’t wait for Baby Baker to join the group. Our bunko/baby group is growing each month. We are soon going to run out of possibilities for who is pregnant next. Unless some of your are ready for #2!Tom and Sydney will be blessed with the arrival of Stella this week. Sydney is in the same boat I was in about a month ago, wondering if the baby will ever come. Stella’s due date came and went this week so Sydney will be induced this week. I have a feeling her and Deacon will be great friends, they already have the following in common…stubbornness, procrastination and wanting to control the situation. Just kidding, hang in there Tom and Sydney she will be here in just a few days.

( 3.1 / 15 )Mama and Papa visit
My parents were here visiting this weekend and of course Deacon got spoiled. On Friday we spent the morning at home and then picked Bryan up for lunch. Papa Ron was the first person to get to babysit while mom and I went on a quick shopping trip. Then on Saturday Deacon went shopping with my mom and I, while Bryan and dad went golfing. When they got done golfing they came and picked Deacon up and spent the afternoon at home napping. They were on their own for about 3 or 4 hours and this was the longest Deacon and I had been apart, so I was very happy to get home. We introduced mom and dad to The Fresh Market this weekend and I think they fell in love. We really enjoyed having them here and can’t wait for them to return. Deacon will miss Papa, he probably will not see him again until Thanksgiving. My mom will be back in a few weeks to babysit while Bryan and I go to a marriage retreat. This will be our first night away overnight from Deacon. I am still not so sure about doing it this early, but Bryan and my mom both reassure me that everything will be fine. But like I told my mom this weekend, I am not worried about Deacon. I am sure he will be fine…but I’m not so sure about me.
