Gone Fishing
Deacon got this magnetic fishing game from his friend Amelia for his birthday. I really didn’t think he would be able to play with it for a while but surprisingly he can! He loves to “go fishing”. 
Look at the concentration on his face, aka his tonuge sticking out.
I am amazed at how patient he is with it and how good he is at it. Yes, I am a very proud mom of a very smart kid. He doesn’t really have the hang of putting the pieces back in place, but we are working on that.
He is practicing up so he can be a better fisherman than daddy…I think he already has

Deacon's favortie show is Clifford. His favorite part of the show is the theme song, so we usually watch it at lease twice. As you can see he likes to dance along and at the end he tries to bark. When the song says, "I love Clifford the big red dog" I always put my arms up in there air and Deacon does the same. Right now he is copying everything we do...it is so much fun. Today Deacon had his 1 year checkup. He measured in at 19 lbs 3 oz (5%) and 29.75 inches (40%). He had to get 3 shots and did not like them at all, but he was much happier after the nurse gave him a sticker. Deacon always takes longer naps on the days he get shots. Today when he woke up from his nap he still seemed sleepy so I rocked him back to sleep and then decided to let him sleep in the living room while I made us lunch. This blanket was Bryan’s when he was a little boy and I think Deacon was pretty cozy in it. Maggie even snuggled up and laid by him for a little while.
Can you tell that Deacon’s favorite food at lunch was macaroni and cheese? I think he might get that from me
Deacon loves Clifford the Big Red Dog right now. He loves the theme song…he dances to it and waves his arms. It’s so cute. I will have to put the video up of it soon.

( 3 / 42 )Second 1st Birthday Party
Saturday afternoon we celebrated Deacon’s birthday with some of his Arkansas friends. After his big family birthday party, we decided we wanted to keep this small and just have some of his “friends” over. Hopefully, all of these kiddos will grow up to be great friends. The food table. The cake was great!
Deacon didn't seem real thrilled at first.
This was his reaction to us singing Happy Birthday. From the looks of it our singing was horrible.

He is thinking I still have a lot of cake to eat. It's a good thing Daddy helped him eat his cake.

Sometime in the next month we will be welcoming another baby to our group. Little Kaleb is going to have a brother very soon.
We ate lots of cake, opened up presents (Deacon loved them all) and of course we had a lot of fun with all of these little boys and Amelia.

This weekend my parents came down for Deacon’s birthday. We were so excited to have them here to celebrate with us. I told them it was like déjà vu. They came in late on Thursday night which was August 20th. And last year they drove down late the night before Deacon was born. I had to go to work for a couple hours on Friday so they got to babysit and spend some alone time with Deacon. Our plan was to get Deacon’s 1 year pictures made then go to the zoo. But we had a little scheduling mix up and had a change of plans.
Deacon had his 1 year pictures with Kelly at 3:30…a little ironic. Why you ask…well, he was born at 3:29 and you know within minutes of being born he was thousands of pictures taken of him. Well, maybe not thousands, but close. And one year later at that same time he was having his picture taken again! I can’t wait to see how his pictures turn out he loved playing with the balloons, but wasn’t too interested in eating the cake. He did enjoy putting his feet in the cake. Since he didn’t eat much of it his Daddy wanted to take it home and eat the rest of it!
We decided to postpone our zoo trip until Saturday. The plan was to get up early and go to the zoo…the only problem was that we slept in. We still went to the zoo and had a great time. Anyone who knows my dad very well knows that he loves that zoo. For as young as Deacon is I think he did too. He really liked the giraffes, but in the end I think his favorite animal was the lion.
