Taking Down the Curtains
Let me start by saying Deacon is getting more and more attached to me by the day. If there are other people around and they are willing to entertain him he is distracted by them and kind of forgets about being a momma’s boy…but when it is just us or he is playing by himself and I am trying to do something else he feels the need to be with me ALL of the time. Most of the time this is not a problem and I love spending every second I can with him. However, there are some things that I have to do and do not need his help…like going to the bathroom or even cooking dinner. Therefore we have toys to entertain him in almost every room.

So, a couple of days ago I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and I had Deacon in there with me in his walker. He loves the fact that he can be independent and mobile in this and is usually happy while in it. His favorite thing to do in his walker is to go as fast as he can to Maggie’s food and water bowl and run into them. Last night he even ran over her while doing this, but she is learning to get out of his way:) Back to my story, I was cooking and he was doing his usual wandering around the kitchen and then he got to the back door and was completely content just looking outside. It was actually really cute because Maggie was sitting right by him looking out the door too…should have got a picture of that. Anyway I went on with my business and a few minutes later I look up to find that he is not at the back door but there is something wrapped up in the curtain. That is right, he had made his way on the carpet and found that wrapping the curtains around him and trying to pull them down was a lot more entertaining than looking out the door. By the time I had grabbed the camera he had resorted to just trying to pull them down.

What a mischievous little boy we have on our hands. I have the feeling you will be hearing many more stories like this in the future!

PaPaw Kent and MaMaw Chris Visit
Our small group is doing a study of how you personally connect with God…and both Bryan and I are enthusiasts. Therefore we love worship music. A few months back when Bryan heard that Chris Tomlin was going to be in Little Rock again he ordered us tickets. We love his music and his concerts are absolutely amazing. We had been looking forward to Thursday night and were so excited when it finally came. Carolyn graciously watched Deacon for a few hours and we headed downtown to Alltel arena. We had so much fun and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

PaPaw Kent and MaMaw Chris drove down on Thursday evening and picked Deacon up from Carolyn’s and took him home. We were all very excited to have them visit for weekend. Friday, we met Bryan for lunch and did some shopping. That evening we decided to hang out around the house because we were forecasted to have bad storms. Luckily we dodged the storms and it just rain.

Saturday morning Bryan and Kent worked on my car. Last weekend my gas gauge stopped working…ahhh! And of course this isn’t covered by the warranty, because it is not “vital” for the car to run. However, I feel that it is vital for me to know how much gas I have in my car. Thankfully, they put in a new sensor and it is as good as new. We spent the afternoon shopping and then had dinner at Doe’s. This is one of Bryan’s favorite restaurants here in Little Rock. This is one of the few places I will eat steak, it is very good but I always feel like I need to put hand sanitizer on my whole body when I leave that place.

Kent and Chris left Sunday afternoon to head back to Illinois. We had lots of fun and Deacon got lots of love from them both. MaMaw Chris likes to tell people that Deacon is a great baby and he never cries. When Bryan would mention all the times he cried this past weekend she would say, “well, that doesn’t count he was tired”…a typical Grandma answer!

We are looking forward to Deacon getting to see all of his Grandparents, Great-Grandparents and lots of other family in two weeks at Easter!

Daddy's Pajamas
Can you guess who this is…

Here is Deacon wearing Daddy’s pajamas.

Bryan’s mom brought these when Deacon was born and he just now fits in them. When this picture was taken of Bryan he was 7½ months and Deacon is about a week away from being 7½ months.

So, what do you think...does Deacon look like his Daddy?

Pray for Stellan
Please keep this family in your prayers. God gave them their miracle child and right now they are needing him to work another miracle. Please join us in praying that God will heal this little boy and continue to give his parents strength.

Wye Mountian and a Visit from MawMaw & PawPaw
This weekend MawMaw and PawPaw came down for their monthly visit.
Deacon had lots of fun getting love and attention from them.
My mom has wanted to spruce up our landscaping for quite some time and we had decided that we would do it this weekend. Friday we got around and headed to pick out plants. Deacon enjoyed walking around the nursery and would even try to grab some of the leaves. Bryan, Dad and Mom worked very hard and I think it turned out great!
Saturday, Mom, Deacon and I all did some shopping while Bryan and Dad finished up the landscaping. That afternoon we headed to Wye Mountain and took some very cute (I know I may be a bit biased) pictures of Deacon. He wasn’t too interested in looking at the camera, but he loved the flowers, grass and dirt. This was his first time getting to sit on the ground and be a boy and he loved it!

However, within just a short time of being there his eyes were turning red and his nose was running like crazy. I am wondering if he may have allergies. Bryan took over 250 pictures, here are a few of them.

We had a great time with MawMaw and PawPaw and can’t wait to see them again in just a few weeks when we go to Illinois for Easter!

Sunday night we had small group and Jessa, a co-worker of mine, babysat Deacon for us. Deacon fell in love with her (and her hair) immediately. He wasn’t even interested in telling us bye, which is very odd of him especially here lately. But I would much rather him do that than cry when we leave him. They must have played hard because Deacon went to bed without a peep and had to be woke up this morning. Thanks Jessa!
