At A Loss For Words
Deacon has absolutely no desire to talk and it drives me crazy. Right now his vocabulary consists of momma, dada, dog, ball, bird, duck and baby. Some of these words he is very good at using…for instance when he is playing with a ball I will say, Deacon what is that and he will say ball. Or when he sees one of his baby pictures he points and says baby and when he is referring to Maggie he says dog. I always thought that he would start off calling her Maggie since we clearly call her by her name and not by dog. However, when I point at myself or Bryan and ask him who we are he will not say and when I try to say I am mamma, he either completely ignores me or laughs at me. This is also usually what happens in the car when I am trying to get him to say words…I think he thinks I am crazy.
I know some kids are late talkers, my mom says I was so it is probably my fault that he doesn’t talk much now.

I find it interesting though that the boy could dribble a ball before he could say the word ball. Everyone seems very impressed at how well he can dribble and throw a ball, so maybe he doesn’t need to talk he will just throw a balls at people to communicate.

Deacon has always loved dogs and now he can find the D is for Dog on this toy and place it between the arrows so it barks, just so he can bark along with it. He thinks this is so funny, and we do too of course.

I know he will talk when he is ready and that it is not abnormal for babies not to say many words at this age. I just think that he is a little stubborn.

These picture have nothing to do with Deacon not talking, they just show that we thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather we had this weekend.
